Stone in call to improve hospital nutrition

5.09.36pm GMT Wed 24th Mar 2010

Commenting as an NHS review shows that one in five hospitals is failing to meet patients’ nutritional needs, Liberal Democrat Public Health spokesperson Jamie Stone MSP said:

“It’s not good enough that a fifth of hospitals are failing to make sure patients have the right food. We know that recovery is linked to the correct diet.

“The report also reveals that nutritional standards vary wildly across the country.

“The Health Secretary needs to sort this out. Every patient deserves food that hits nutritional standards, regardless of which hospital they’re in.”
