SNP have their priorities wrong

10.59.53am GMT Sat 28th Nov 2009

Commenting ahead of the publication of the SNP’s White Paper for a referendum on independence, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott MSP said:

“Monday will be an SNP jamboree of flag waving and nationalist fervour as Ministers publish their white paper with the taxpayer footing the £12 million bill.

“They have got their priorities wrong. Just in the last few days we’ve seen teacher numbers plummet and major delays to the construction of a new hospital.

“In these tough economic times, Scottish Ministers should be focusing on the real issues that matter to the people of Scotland, like jobs, schools and hospitals.

“Liberal Democrats will vote this Bill down, confident that we alone stand for the real change that the people of Scotland want. The Tories and the Labour party have kicked any change for the Scottish Parliament into the long grass and the SNP are wedded to independence.”
