4.50.56pm GMT Thu 29th Oct 2009

Commenting on the announcement of £2.4 million of funding to roll out the Caledonian System which provides a comprehensive approach to dealing with domestic abuse, Liberal Democrat Justice spokesperson Robert Brown MSP said:

“This funding is extremely welcome, but Government and agencies must not lose track of the fact that alcohol is a major factor in domestic violence incidents.

“Domestic abuse in any form is unacceptable.

"We must focus on changing attitudes towards drink and domestic violence in Scotland."
